title: {defining me} treasured things
date: October 18
this one for the PickleberryPop {defining me} project. I tried to keep this simple, had to take quite a few photos to get one that worked, and I’ve been fiddling with this for over a week!
our rings - my engagement ring and Ray’s wedding band - tucked away in a box safely, but still treasured. Ray doesn’t wear his for safety at work, and I stopped wearing mine when the diamond fell out and never got back into the habit of wearing it.
We went into Melbourne to buy my engagement ring, we sought out the store where my Mum’s ring was crafted - Paul Bram - and chose a simple single diamond in a classic setting, just like my Mum’s,just like I wanted.
When Kate was a baby, I lost the diamond from the setting while out shopping at Fountain Gate - I was devastated, inconsolable. Three weeks later I found the diamond tucked into my chequebook wallet, and was beside myself with joy. Stored safely, ring and diamond sat in the cupboard until our 9th anniversary, and Ray surprised me with the re-set ring.
Now I just wear my wedding band, the symbol of our union. But these beautiful rings are still treasured, stowed safely, and taken out to be admired from time to time.
black paper from TracyAnn’s M collection - Mignon; cream paper from TracyAnn’s Shabby cream; polaroid frame from TracyAnn’s Shabby bits; tied string from Amy Knepper’s Leaps and Bounds; hearts by Meredith Fenwick; tiny tags from Michelle Coleman’s Lighter Shade of Pale; paper tear by Steph; title font is CK maternal; journalling font is KGD Lindsay

title: hand-me-downs
date: October 16
title alpha is from Peta’s Color Me kit (Little Possum Designs at the PickleberryPop store), the rest is my own (mostly scanned LOL); journalling font is KGD Lindsay
every spring and autumn, the rearrangement of cupboards from warm clothes to cool ones and back again. with the four boys it is quite a task to keep track of the hand-me-downs, and there is often the addition of recycled clothes from Jenny and now Jenny Nixon too. this feels good, to have done the changeover from winter to summer clothing already, boxes sorted and labelled, three boxes from the shed now merged into the inside cupboards, and two huge bags of excess or too-small-nows handed on to the op shop. still no cupboard doors. and no mention of my slight tendency to OCD behaviour!

title: {defining me} 10 things I’m kinda ok with
date: September 25
always hard for me to do these kind of layouts, and in my current ‘down’ not so easy to see much good in me, but I did my best
journalling
1. I’m almost happy in my own skin.
2. I’m game to be grey haired, or to dye it purple.
3. I’m doing an ok job as a Mum.
4. I can make nice scrapping stuff on the computer.
5. I can keep our farm accounts (almost) in order.
6. I’m doing an ok job at keeping house.
7. I’m learning to say no.
8. I can be more real with people than ever before (not so much trying to be what they expect me to be)
9. I’m in a happy marriage for almost 20 years (that’s gotta count for something)
10. I’m helping build good memories for my kids.

title: the littlest
date: July 22
credits: Poor Isaiah gets left out when the boys have Michael over to play. I heard him crying outside, and asked him if I could take his photo to make a page about his troubles (sniff) - papers and sticker from my Not Just Dirt kit, fonts are LD letterpress and FG Adam
journalling: Sometimes it’s hard to be the littlest one. You can’t keep up with the bigger ones, you have to run when they go on a walk, and you can’t go on bike rides ‘cos you can’t ride a bike yet. You can’t join in when they are wrestling or even bouncing together on the trampoline, because the littlest one always gets hurt (cos they just don’t know their own strength). And sometimes they just won’t let you join in, cos they’re meanies.
